The Portuguese registry has announced that all restrictions for .PT (Portugal) will be removed as from March 1st 2012. Today you need a trademark or a company name that matches the domain name that you wish to register.

The new regulations will be implemented as follows:

March 1st – April 30th 2012: sunrise period. Application is open for trademark owners, companies and organizations that wish to protect their trademark/company name. The requested domain name must match the trademark/company name. Please note that if you do not own a trademark you can apply anyway to protect your company name, organization, logotype, etc.

May 1st 2012: .PT can be registered by everybody, companies as well as natural persons, on a first come, first served basis. No restrictions.
